Effective hair loss treatment in Singapore

What is hair loss?

On average, humans lose around 50-100 hairs per day while growing hair at the same time to replace the loss. When new hair does not replace this hair that falls out, it is known as hair loss.

Hair loss typically occurs due to a number of factors, such as heredity (family history) and medical conditions. It is a common condition for both men and women that often happens with ageing and is easily treatable with new and improved techniques and treatments.

If you start to notice that you are dropping more hair than usual, seeing a doctor can help determine the underlying cause of your hair loss and an appropriate treatment plan can be devised.

What are the common causes of hair loss in Singapore?

The most common types and causes of hair loss include:

  • Hereditary hair loss – Also known as androgenic alopecia, male-pattern baldness and female-pattern baldness
  • Hormone irregularities and changes due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and thyroid issues
  • Medical and immune-related conditions such as alopecia areata, scalp infections such as ringworm
  • Radiation therapy
  • Stress
  • Excessive hair styling

Treatment of hair loss with Regenera Autologous Micrografting Technology

Autologous micrografting treatment is an intensive scalp treatment to aid stronger, thicker hair growth. It is specially developed to regenerate and kickstart hair growth using autologous micrograft. What this means is that it uses your body’s own ability to use functioning hair follicles to stimulate the growth of hair follicles in inactive areas of the scalp. The device is an FDA-approved, CE-marked, and HSA-approved device for the purpose of stimulating healthy hair growth.

Autologous Micrografting Technology Benefits

Autologous Micrografting Technology is a minimally invasive treatment with little to no downtime, making it ideal for busy individuals who do not want to deal with the side effects of medication or the risks of surgery.

It treats hair loss in adult men and women. The hair loss treatment is also safe for colour-treated or processed hair.

The micrografts are autologous or, in simpler terms, from your own body. Autologous micrografting is a natural hair loss treatment with little risk of rejection from weakened hair follicles as the progenitor cells and growth factors were extracted from you.

Who is Autologous Micrografting for?

  • Suitable for both Men and Women
  • People with the diagnosis of Female or Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia or Hereditary Alopecia)
  • Mild to Moderate hair loss/ hair thinning
  • People who want to strengthen their scalps BEFORE or AFTER Hair Transplant

How does autologous micrografting work?

This patented system extracts a skin sample from your scalp, typically at the back of your neck, where your hair grows normally. The sample is extracted under local anaesthesia to minimise pain.

These samples are processed in a special device to extract growth factors and stem cells. These are regenerative cells that help stimulate hair follicles.

When injected into the areas affected by hair loss, these cells help stimulate hair growth. The result is increased hair density and stronger hair strands.

Autologous Micrografting treatment at Nueva Clinic

Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you can expect during a Regenera Activa® treatment session at Nueva Clinic.

The autologous micrografting treatment is a 3-step procedure that only takes 1 hour.

Pre-Treatment Consultation

Before starting any treatment, you’ll undergo a thorough consultation with our medical director, Dr Kwan. This typically includes a scalp examination, a review of your medical history and a discussion of your hair restoration goals. This step will determine if autologous micrografting is the appropriate hair loss treatment for you.

During the Treatment

Our autologous micrografting system follows a simple process to promote healthy hair growth. The treatment begins with the extraction phase, where a small area of the scalp is numbed using a topical anaesthetic before 3 to 5 tiny punches are made to the scalp. This step is quick and causes minimal discomfort.

Once the micro-grafts are extracted, they undergo a separation process, where they are processed and divided into smaller portions containing progenitor cells and growth factors. These cells and growth factors are then activated through vigorous mixing and centrifugation in a specialised machine.

In the injection phase, your practitioner uses syringes to inject the concentrated micro-grafts into areas of thinning hair.

The procedure is usually completed in less than an hour, making it convenient and time-efficient.

Post-Treatment Care

After the autologous micrografting hair loss procedure, you’ll receive guidance on how to care for the treated areas. This typically includes the following tips:

  • Avoid using hair products with harsh chemicals or undergo another hair treatment process for a few days
  • Keep the area protected from sunlight
  • Wait a few days before resuming strenuous activities, such as swimming or running
  • Use gentle products when washing your hair and scalp
  • Avoid touching or scratching your scalp to prevent irritation or infection
  • Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet to support scalp healing
  • Follow any additional aftercare instructions provided by your aesthetic practitioner

FAQs about autologous micrografting treatments in Singapore

What is the difference between FUE Hair Transplant and Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment?

Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment is suitable for people who are not ready for Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant, or for people who are budget-conscious of the costs of a FUE hair transplant.

Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment can be thought of as a scalp conditioning treatment that strengthens and revitalizes your scalp. For people who wish to undergo FUE hair transplant, Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment can be used to reinforce scalp health before and after FUE transplant treatment.

Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment is priced from $3000 per session on average in Singapore.

Unlike topical or oral medication, Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment does not introduce any inorganic compound into your body, making it a very safe treatment with no reported side effects.

The entire Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment takes about 45 minutes with minimal downtime.
You can expect some redness on the scalp after the treatment but these effects should resolve on its own in a couple of hours.

This treatment is a one-time treatment. You should be able to see visible results after 4 to 6 weeks from initial treatment. You may choose to repeat this treatment after 10 to 12 months if you wish to maintain the outcome of the previous treatment.

The treatment is not painful as local anesthesia can be administered before the micro-grafts are extracted.

The result of Autologous Micrografting Hair Loss Treatment is not permanent. It can last between 1 and 3 years depending on how well you maintain the scalp health. It is best repeated every 1-2 years to rejuvenate your scalp and retard or reverse hair loss.
